Rankcow Companion Privacy Policy

Last updated: 31 July 2026

Rankcow Companion is a browser extension that posts Reddit comments you have written in Rankcow to Reddit, from your own Reddit account.

This policy covers the extension only. Rankcow's web application is covered by the Rankcow privacy policy.

01

What the extension collects

Nothing. The extension does not collect, sell, or transmit your personal data. It has no analytics, no tracking, no logging to any server, and no storage of any kind. It keeps nothing after a comment is posted.

02

What it accesses, and why

Your Reddit session. When you post a comment, the extension reads your Reddit CSRF token (modhash) from reddit.com/api/me.json — the same request Reddit's own website makes. It is used immediately in that one comment request and is never stored, logged, or sent anywhere else.

Your Reddit username. Shown in the extension popup so you can confirm which account will post. It is read fresh each time and never stored.

Your comment text. The comment you wrote in Rankcow is passed to the extension, which submits it to Reddit. The extension does not modify it, keep a copy, or send it anywhere other than Reddit.

It never sees your Reddit password. The extension cannot, by design — it works from the session already in your browser, so there is nothing to ask for and nothing to store.

03

Sites the extension talks to

reddit.com — the only one. No request is made to any other server, including Rankcow's.

04

How Rankcow communicates with the extension

The Rankcow web app sends the extension a comment to post and receives back the resulting comment's URL. That exchange happens inside your browser between two pages you already have open. Only origins listed in the extension's manifest can communicate with it.

Rankcow's own servers store the comments you post through it — that is what makes them appear in your Reply Queue — and that storage is governed by the Rankcow privacy policy, not this one.

05

Permissions

scripting — Reddit refuses comment submissions that come from an extension origin, so the request has to run inside a reddit.com page. This permission injects that single request into an open reddit.com tab. It is used for nothing else.

Host access to https://www.reddit.com/* — the only site the extension interacts with, and only to post comments you have approved.

The extension requests no other permissions. It cannot read your browsing history or access any other website.

06

What it will never do

It will never post anything you did not write and explicitly send. There is no automatic posting, no background activity, and no scheduled behaviour. Every comment is one you composed and chose to publish.

07

Data retention

There is none. The extension stores no data, so there is nothing to retain, export, or delete. Uninstalling it removes it completely.

08

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published here and the date above revised. Material changes to what the extension accesses will also be reflected in its Chrome Web Store listing.
