What the charts measure and what they leave out.

• Comments, not posts. The number of posts going up says when other posters are awake. The number of comments says when readers are. Readers are the ones who upvote you in the first hour, which is what decides whether a post travels.
• Per subreddit beats global advice. r/personalfinance peaks on weekday mornings in the US. r/gaming peaks at night and at weekends. A single "best time for Reddit" number averages those into something that is wrong for both.
• Your timezone is applied. Every heatmap here is shifted to the timezone of the device you are reading on, with a switch back to UTC if you schedule in that.
• Scores take 36 hours to settle. A post is recorded the moment it appears and refreshes its votes later, so the last two days are left out of every chart.
• Timing is the last thing to fix. A post that breaks a rule is removed at any hour. Check it against the subreddit's rules first, then pick the slot.
